The Last of Us Remastered ★★★★☆
| Playtime: 15 hours | Status: Finished |
Playing this years after release, I can see why it’s considered a masterpiece. The story follows Joel and Ellie through a post-apocalyptic world with great emotional depth.
The game is very linear - there’s only one path forward - but it’s so well done you don’t mind. The gameplay feels clunky sometimes, especially the stealth parts, but the story makes up for it.
The world looks amazing and every area tells its own story. It gets repetitive at times, but the characters and plot kept me hooked.
Heavy Rain ★★★☆☆
| Playtime: 8 hours 23 minutes | Status: Finished |
This was one of the games that made me buy a PS5. I watched YouTube videos of it when it first came out and always wanted to play it myself.
It’s an interactive drama where you play as four different characters hunting the Origami Killer: Ethan Mars, Madison Paige, Norman Jayden, and Scott Shelby. Your choices actually matter and create real tension. Each character has their own storyline that connects in interesting ways.
Some parts drag on too long and get repetitive. But knowing your decisions change the story makes you want to play again. It’s more like an interactive movie than a regular game, and it works really well.
The Last of Us Part II Remastered ★★★☆☆
| Playtime: 15 hours 17 minutes | Status: Finished |
The sequel builds on what made the original great. The story is really good, dealing with revenge and forgiveness in believable ways.
My biggest problem was playing as Abby. I just wanted to get back to Ellie’s story. Having two main characters makes sense for the plot, but it felt awkward while playing.
Some parts of the story feel forced and break the immersion. But it’s still a solid game that does something different with storytelling.
Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales ★☆☆☆☆
| Playtime: 9 hours 10 min | Status: Finished |
This was my biggest disappointment of 2025. Despite all the hype and pretty graphics, the gameplay got boring really fast.
Every mission is the same: go somewhere, fight bad guys, repeat. The story starts promising but then just stops with no real ending. No character growth, nothing satisfying, like they gave up halfway through.
The web swinging feels great and the city looks amazing, but that can’t fix a boring game. I would not recommend this game.
The Last of Us: Left Behind ★★☆☆☆
| Playtime: Short | Status: Finished |
This DLC has two stories, Ellie’s past with Riley, and helping Joel when he’s hurt. The Riley parts are good and give nice backstory for Ellie.
The Joel parts are boring, mostly just walking through snow. They don’t add much and feel separate from the better Riley story.
It’s nice to get more Last of Us stuff, but this feels like extra scenes that didn’t make it into the main game.
Final Thoughts
Playing these PS5 exclusives in 2025 has been a mixed bag. Some games like The Last of Us are genuinely great, while others like Spider-Man were just disappointing.
Sony clearly focuses on story over gameplay, which works sometimes but not always. Coming from Xbox, these games offer unique experiences you can’t get anywhere else, even when they have problems.
I’m currently playing God of War (2018) and planning to dive into more Sony exclusives next year. There’s still a lot to explore on this console.
